Harry Wood’s journey began not with privilege, but with passion. Growing up without financial security, football was his escape, his hope, and his opportunity. What he had was talent, determination, and a love for the game, but what he didn’t always have was the equipment, support, and accessthat so many young players today still struggle without.

One moment changed everything. As a young boy, Harry received his very first pair of football boots as a gift from his Uncle Harry Wood. To others, they may have seemed like just a pair of boots. To him, they represented belief, encouragement, and the chance to truly step onto the pitch and be seen. That simple act of kindness gave him confidence, dignity, and the feeling that his dreams mattered.

Those boots were more than footwear - they were an opportunity. The Harry Wood Trust exists to carry that same act of belief forward into future generations. We want every child who receives a pair of boots through the Trust to feel what Harry felt: that someone believes in them, that they belong, and that their circumstances do not define their potential.

This charity is built on the belief that one pair of boots can change a life. Not only by enabling a child to play, but by igniting confidence, self-worth, and ambition. In honour of Harry’s story, and the generosity that first set him on his path, we aim to transform hardship into hope, ensuring that the gift once given to him continues to open doors for children for generations to come.
